Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
14th-24th November

The 2019 CECAFA Women’s Championships’ groups have been drawn on Thursday.

The tournament will be hosted in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania from 14th to 24th of November.

It will consist of two groups (A and B) with each containing four teams. The top two from each group will progress to the semi finals with the winners contending for the championship.

Uganda have been drawn in Group B alongside Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

It is viewed as the group of death as Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia are power houses in women football in the region.

Uganda will have to be at their best so as to progress as their latest meetings with both Kenya and Ethiopia have not ended well.

Group A will see hosts Tanzania tussle it out with Zanzibar, Burundi and South Sudan for a place in the last four.

The Crested Cranes squad for the tournament is expected to be announced on Wednesday next week with preparations starting the following week.

Hosts Tanzania are the defending champions and have won the regional tournament for the last two editions.
