UPL: Maroons FC hosts winless Bright Stars

Maroons have won two of their first three games of the season.

Bright Stars will be hoping to register their first victory of the season when they visit Maroons FC at Luzira in the Uganda premier League on Saturday.

The Kawempe boys are without a win from their four games and have only managed to collect two points thanks to draws against Express and Wakiso Giants.

The have so far lost to Vipers an d Busoga United.

Maroons FC, under coach Douglas Bamweyana, have six points from three games.

They lost their opener 3-1 against URA FC but have managed to bounce back with wins against Kyetume FC and Tooro United.

Team News 

Bright Stars will be without team captain Nelson Senkatuka who joined Moroccan Club Moghreb Athletic on Friday.

Mohammed Kisekka will have his hopes in Jungu Methodius, Jamil Karisa and Brian Kayanja going forward.

Steven Mukwala, on loan from Vipers, will be Maroons hope for goals. He has scored twice in the league so far for the Prison Warders. Ronald Orombi, Solomon Walusimbi and defender Edie Kapampa are the other players to watch out for for the hosts.

Match Facts 

Bright Stars’ last visit to Luzira came on 6th March 2019 and the hosts managed to pick up maximum points.

Maroons and Bright Stars have had six league meetings with both sides winning twice while the other two have all ended in draws.

Maroons won 1-0 last season at Luzira – Pius Obuya scored from the spot after referee William Oloya judged Bright Stars defender Derrick Ngobi to have handled the ball in the box.
