Uganda Premier League

URA 1-2 Tooro United

Tooro United FC returned to winning ways after defeating URA FC 2-1 at Mandela National Stadium on Friday.

The win sends Tooro to six points and the result ends their losing streak of three games. Tooro had lost to Vipers, Wakiso Giants and Maroons FC prior to Friday.

John Byamukama canceled Brian Majwega’s goal to level matters for the visitors before Willy Kavuma scored a late winner from the spot.

Brian Majwega converted from a spot in 48th minute after Isa Mubiru pulled down Mandela Ashraf inside the forbidden area.

Substitute Byamukama who came in for Mukasa Musa equalized in the 67th minutes from Charles Musiige’s through pass after URA’s Mbowa Steven lost possession near the edge of the 18yard box.

Willy Kavuma scored what proved to be the winner – He scored from the penalty, sending his effort into the top corner after Waibi Yeseri fouled Musiige inside the box.

Earlier, URA had a chance to double their lead but substitute Kilama Dickens who had replaced Michael Birungi, had his header go over the bar.

Majwega’s dropping shot earlier on was also finger-tipped by Middie Kibirige into a corner.

Tooro’s Mubiru, unmarked, had a chance to score but his header went over the bar.

Charles Musiige was named man of the match.
