Maroons FC has now won all of their last three games.

Uganda Premier League
Maroons 3-2 Bright Stars

Maroons FC defeated Bright Stars FC 3-2 on match day five of the Uganda Premier League at Luzira.

Douglas Bamweyana’s side have now extended their winning run to three games in a row.

Tusubira Abraham, Agau Rashid and Steven Mukwala were on target for the prison wardens.

For Bright Stars, goals from Augustin Kacancu and Sulaiman Sebbunza proved consolations in the end.

The hosts took an early lead when Tusubira scored a goal assisted by Solomon Walusimbi just five minutes into the game.

Janjali could have leveled matters for Bright Stars before halftime but his two efforts went far and wide.

Tusubira, from the free kick, found Agau who doubled the lead for Maroons with a shot in the bottom corner.

Kacancu pulled one back with a solo effort, the midfielder dribbled past three Maroons defenders before scoring past Hannington Ssebwalunyo who had moved off his line.

Sebbunza leveled matters from the spot, shooting into the roof after Bayiga’s handball inside the forbidden area.

Bright Stars caught Maroons backline flatfooted with Mukwala nodding a free header after a build up play that was orchestrated by Tibiita Laban and Tusubira.

The visitors tried to push for an equalizer but Juma Sebaduka’s right wing cross was pushed out by the goalkeeper.

Maroons go to nine points after previous wins against Tooro United and Kyetume FC. Bright Stars remain winless from five games.

Tusubira Abraham was named man of the match.
