Five dropped as CHAN team starts to take shape

CHAN 2020 Qualifiers

KAMPALA – The Uganda CHAN team that is currently under going preparation for the upcoming qualifier against Burundi has been trimmed to 27 players.

Five players have been dropped on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the team’s build-up game against the Hippos later in the day.

Abdallah Mubiru’s side will take on the U20 side at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru as they continue to gear up for Friday’s encounter away to the Swallows.

The five that have been drop include Joel Mutakubwa (Kyetume FC), Eddy Kapampa (Maroons FC), Samson Kigozi (Police FC), Ashraf Mandela (URA FC) and Gadaffi Wahab (Onduparaka FC).

As expected, the two players that were added onto the fold late last week, including Joel Madondo and James Alitho have been retained.

The duo replaced Edrisa Lubega and Saidi Keni respectively with the latter ineligible after rejoining his parent side Proline FC just last month.

The squad is expected to further be trimmed to the 18 players that will represent Uganda in Bujumbura on Friday.

The Cranes will take on Burundi on Friday at the Stade Intwari in Bujumbura in the first leg of the 2020 CHAN second-round qualifiers.

Midfielders
