Substitute Titus Lual was the star of the show as he posted a double double in UCU Canons’ victory over Warriors on Friday.
In the game played at the MTN Arena in Lugogo, Lual who was in introduced with only 03:03 to play in the first quarter, shot 6-10 as UCU won 71-69.
UCU started slow, trailing by as many as 8 with just over 4 minutes to play in the first quarter. However, they recovered to take it 20-16.
Nicholas Natuhereza’s side then blew away Warriors in the second, scoring 26 points whilst restricting their opponents to just 14 and in the process took a commanding 16 points lead into half time with the scores reading 46-30.
That advantage was maintained in the third with both sides scoring 20 points each.
Warriors came out for the final 10 minutes stronger and tried to push for a comeback. However, despite winning the fourth 18-13, they ended up losing the contest.
Lual top-scored for Canons with 15 points and grabbed 10 boards. Isaiah Ater (11) and Martin Tyron (13) also managed double figures in terms of scoring.
For Warriors, Chris Omanye and Michael Bazangu breached the 10 point mark but it was not enough in the end. Omanye managed a game-high 2-0 points while Bazangu scored 18.
UCU now take their record to 17-02 for the season while Warriors are 16-03.
In the other game played on Friday, Ndejje Angels defeated Sharing Youth 77-72.
Innocent Ochera registered a double double in the game, scoring 23 points and picking as many rebounds for Ndejje.
Samuel Ajack (19), Gauthier Baderha (11) and Godwine Muhamireho (11) were also in double figures in terms of points in the victory.
For Sharing, Ceaser Kizkto top scored with 23 points while Sam Gombya registered a double double of 10 points and 11 boards.
