KAMPALA – Uganda Revenue Authority FC captain Shafik Kagimu has signed a contract extension with the club on Monday, July 15th, 2019.
The 21-year-old’s previous contract was due to expire in one and a half years and speculation linking him with a move away from the Tax Collectors was mounting by the day.
He is now believed to have signed a three-year deal that will see him at URA until January 2024.
His new deal was confirmed by URA via their official website.
“URA Football Club is delighted to announce that Kagimu Shafik Kuchi has signed a contract extension ahead of the new StarTimes Uganda Premier League 2019/20 season.” Read a statement on the club’s website.
Kagimu was a crucial part of the URA FC side that finished third in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League last season, scoring eight goals and assisting six times.
Upon signing the three-year deal, Kagimu expressed his delight to be continuing with his stay at URA FC.
“It is a real honour to continue representing this amazing club. Said Kuchi.
“I want to maintain my stability at the club and also avoid moving from club to club as it’s the best for my career.”
“We had some good football last season and I also see the club is moving in the right direction so I decided to extend my contract for this long. He continued.
URA FC have already signed up to 7 new players this offseason, including Brian Majega and Ivan Ntege.
The club is understood to be targeting a top two spot in the League this season.
