Barely two days after he terminated his contract as Uganda Cranes’ head coach, Sebastien Desabre has been unveiled at Egyptian side Pyramids FC.

The Frenchman who guided Uganda to a round of 16 appearances at the 2019 AFCON was named shown to the media on Monday, July 8th, at a press conference held at the 30th June Military Stadium in Cairo.

The press conference was attended by Pyramids’ chairman Hossam Elbadry and vice chairman Mamdoh Eid.

Desabre is understood to have put pen to paper on a two-year deal that will see him guide Pyramids through the 2019/2020 and the 2020/2021 seasons.

During the press conference, Desabre expressed his joy to be joining Pyramids.

“I am Very greatful to be joining Pyramids FC. Said the 42-year-old.

‘I was very focused on Uganda Cranes and respected FUFA very well but I had to decide quickly.

‘I am now focused on my new project and hopefully it will be a success.

This is the second club that Desabre will handle in Egypt after having previously served as Ismaily head coach before joining Uganda Cranes.

He has been with the Cranes for a one year and a half period, leading them to the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.

While there, the Cranes finished second in Group A before losing to Senegal at the round of 16.

For the Cranes, he was in charge of 18 matches, winning 6, drawing 5 and losing 7.

Desabre was in charge of 18 games as Cranes head coach.

Desabre has in the past coached at ESC Rocheville, ASEC Mimosas, CS Garoua, ES Tunis, Club Recreativo Desportivo Libolo, Dubai Club, JS Saoura and Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club.

About Pyramids FC

Pyramids Football Club is an Egyptian football club based in Cairo.

The club currently plays in the Egyptian Premier League, the highest league in the Egyptian football league system.

Pyramids (formerly Al Assiouty Sport) was formed in 2008 in Assiut. The club was promoted to the Egyptian Premier League for the first time in its history in 2014, after winning the promotion play-off.

The team’s name was changed from Al Assiouty Sport to Pyramids FC and the money he invested in the club went on to affect the Egyptian Premier League.

On 28 June 2018, former Al Ahly’s coach, Hossam El Badry was announced as chairman of the club, Ahmed Hassan as spokesman and football team supervisor, Hady Khashaba as football director and former Botafogo coach Albert Valentim as the new manager.
