The Uganda Women National Cricket team, Lady Cranes, have on Friday, 14-06-2019, been flagged off for the 2019 Genocide Memorial tournament.

The Memorial tournament will take place in Kigali Rwanda from the 16th to 23rd of June.

A team of 14 players and two reserves was flagged off at the National Council Offices (NCS) in Lugogo.

Speaking during a flag off, NCS assistant General Secretary David Katende commended Uganda Cricket Association for a tremendous job done by giving the young kids a chance to represent their country.

“The future is getting bright for Uganda sportsmen, and you should pay attention to your skills, remain focused and represent your country with great honour, said Katende.

The tourney held since 2003, is organized in honour of sportsmen and women who died during the 1994 Genocide.

This year’s edition has received full T20 international status and thus will add points and contribute much to the ranks of participants, unlike the previous editions.

The Players:

Rita Musamali (Aziz Damani), Immaculate Nakisuyi (Aziz Damani) Joyce Mary Apio (Olila High School), Stephannie Nampiina (Aziz Damani), Esther Ilukor (Olila High), Damalie Busingye (Olila High), Evelyn Anyipo (Soroti Challengers), Sarah Walaza (Jinja SS), Mary Nyende Kagoya (Aziz Damani), Allako Proscovia (Olila High), Hildred Anyingo (Olila High), Susan Kakai (Jinja SS), Gloria Obukor (Olila High), Christine Anayo (Light SS).
