FUBA NBL: Power, JKL end first round on high

WANDEGEYA – The Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) National Basketball League (NBL) first round came to a close on Wednesday evening with two games played on the day.

In the first game, Brian Sivachi registered a double double as Betway Power took care of Ndejje Angels 73-51.

The Center posted 10 points on the night and also collected a game high 13 rebounds with 8 of them defensive.

Four of his points came in the first half while the other six came in the second.

It was a game that Power led from start to finish, ending the first quarter 25-12 up.

The second was more of a contest as Ndejje put up a spirited display but in the end lost it 12-10 meaning that Power took a 15 point lead into halftime with the score-board reading 37-22.

Anorld Lando’s side would press the gas pedal further, taking the third 22-16 and ensure they lead by as many as 21 going into the last 10 minutes.

The fourth quarter was all about seeing out the game for Power, restricting Ndejje to just 13 points while posting 14 of their own to win the contest 73-51.

Aside from Sevinchi, Power had three more players reach double figures in terms of scoring. Syrus Kiviri top scored on the night with 17, Geoffrey Soro added 11 while Joseph Ikong helped himself to 12.

For Ndejje, only Samuel Ajack and Gauthier Baderha managed to breach the 10 point mark in terms of scoring. Ajack had a team high 14 while Baderha managed 12.

The result means Power ends the first round in 6th with a 7-4 record while Ndejje drop remains 7th having won 6 and lost 5 of their 11 games.

In the other game played on Wednesday, JKL Dolphins powered past Sharing Youth 72-58.

Like Power, JKL also led from start to finish but took only two of the four quarters.

The Henry Malinga coached side took the first quarter 20-06 before losing the second 11-09 and go into the break leading 29-17.

Sharing continued their growth into the game, winning the third 23-21 and ensuring the head into the last 10 minutes trailing by only 10 points.

The fourth would however belong to JKL who outscored Sharing 22-18 to win the game 72-58.

Daniel Oringa led the way from JKL in terms of scoring with 15 while Brian Murumba and Yesmin Bushiri managed 13 and 11 respectively.

Ivan Lumanyika was also big off the bench for Malinga’s side as he collected a game high 11 rebounds with 7 coming off his rime.

For Sharing, Ceaser Kizkito was impressive again as he posted a game high 20 points on the evening. David Donat and Emmanuel Okumu were the other in double figures in terms of scoring in the losing effort, posting 12 and 10 points respectively.

The victory is JKL’s 8th of the season and it sees them maintain 5th on the log with a 8-3 record. For Sharing, they also maintian 8th spot with a 3-8 record.
