ISMAILIA – Defending champions Cameroon will begin their AFCON campaign against Guinea Bissau in a group F contest on Tuesday evening at Ismailia Stadium.

This is the 19th time that the five time continental champions are taking part in the competition, while Guinea Bissau are only making their second appearance.

The indomitable lions are ranked 51st in the world whereas the Djurtus are in the 118th position.

Clarence Seedorf coached side last won back to back African Cup of Nations in 2002, they will be aiming at similar success in Egypt having triumphed in the last edition in Gabon.

They head into the first after overcoming money issues, ones that had seen players threaten not to play the first game.

For Baciro Cande’s side, they are without a win in their last three matches, with their most recent ending in a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Angola in an international friendly.

Cameroon have had a decent run of form in their previous three games, winning two and only drawing 1-1 with Mali in their most recent fixture.

Seedorf’s side will look up to Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, PSG forward Eric Maxim Choupo Moting, Clinton N’Jie and Karl Toko Ekambi for maximum points.

Guinea Bissau will rely on inspiration captain Zezinho Djafal alongside Monaco’s Judilson Mamadu Tuncara Gomes ‘Pele’ and Joao Jaquite.

Both teams have previously met each other on three occasions, Guinea Bissau are yet to register victory against their day’s opponents and have only managed to score once and conceded four in their previous meetings.

Ghana will take on Benin in the late kick off game in group F.
