Uganda Cranes players and staff have received a major boost ahead of their 2019 AFCON game against Zimbabwe on Wednesday evening.

The allowances of UGX 16.6m received by each person comes as bonus for the victory over Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday afternoon.

Uganda got off to a flying start at this year’s AFCON edition, defeating the Leopards 2-0 at the Cairo International Airport.

A goal in either half by Patrick Kaddu and Emmanuel Okwi was enough to earn the Cranes their maiden victory at the competition, in 41 years.

On the eve of their second game, the Cranes who are camped at Radisson Blu Cairo Helioplis, received their bonuses.

The development happened on the match eve to the Zimbabwe Warriors encounter at the team’s Radisson Blu Cairo Heliopolis hotel base.

“We held a meeting with the players and officials, narrated FUFA Media manager Ahmed Hussein.

“Everything progressed well including their allowances and bonuses.

“The players and the technical department are all focused for the game with Zimbabwe on Wednesday night.”

With the money now in their pockets, the players are expected to maintain high spirits as they bid to reach the knock out stage for the first time since 1978.

Forward Abdu Lumala who suffered a knock in the win of DR Congo has been past fit and will be available for selection on Wednesday night.

Head coach Sebastien Desabre is expected to make only one change to the line up with Murushid Juuko who has not been training consistently, expected to drop from the starting team.
