MENGO – Yeak Kabowa took a giant step towards securing the 2018/19 Futsal Super League League title as they defeated Parakeets 4-1 in one of the 7 matches played on Thursday.
The Kabowa based side who have been impressive all season ensured they were in control of proceeding early, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime with John Musasizi and Swabul Mugenyi scoring for them.
Parakeets looked a better side in the second half, halving the deficit thanks to Vincent Abigaba’s goal.
However, Yeak responded with two more goals through now-top scorer Shaffic Avemah.
The win take Yeak onto 57 points and ensures they maintain their 6 point caution atop the Futsal Super League standings with only three games to play.
For second placed Park, they returned to winning ways, powering past Yap Stars 3-2.
Having let a 3-1 lead slip in the 5-5 draw against Bajim last week, Park knew they could not afford anymore slip-ups in the title race and raced into a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Mark Kisenyi, Shafick Mulangira and Joshua Asiku scored Park’s first half goals.
In the second half, the second placed side were all over the place as Yap pushed them to the limits.
Yap who are currently the bottom side on the log, scored two unanswered goals through Ouma Osborne to set-up a tense finale.
In the end, Park held on to register a vital victory.
The three points see the Iddi Babu captained side march onto 51 points for the season, six behind leaders Yeak with only three games to play.
For Yap, they remain bottom of the standings having gathered only 9 points from their first 23 games.
Elsewhere, defending champions Dream made it three victories in their last three games, defeating Kabowa United 5-1.
Swaibu Kazibwe and Moses Lubega struck early for the defending champions to ensure a 2-1 lead at halftime. Edward Kyagulanyi struck for Kabowa in the first period.
In the second, it was all Dream, scoring three more goals in order to seal the victory.
Kazibwe completed his day’s brace while John Ssegawa added two more in the rout.
Victory for Dream now sees them maintain 4th spot with 41 points accumulated so far.
For Kabowa United, they remain second from bottom with 12 points.
In the most entertaining contest of the day, Crown edged Equator 2-1.
Crown took a 1-0 lead at halftime thanks to Ismail Kaire’s goal but it was in the second half that the contest got to life.
Just after the recess, Equator equalized through Daniel Sempa and with the contest heading for a stalemate, Salad Mahad took the matters into his own hand to strike the winner for Crown.
