-Kenya 3-0 Rwanda
(25-13, 25-8, 25-10)

LUGOGO – Uganda women Volleyball She Cranes, continued their perfect start to the ongoing Zone V All Africa games women qualifiers, defeating Rwanda three sets to one.

This was their second victory of the competition following a three set to nothing win over Ethiopia on Sunday evening.

As compared to the Ethiopia game in which the team cruised to victory, Rwanda put out strong resilience but in the end, could not match the Volleyball She Cranes.

After winning the first set 25-21 but Rwanda rallied back to take the second but the same score.

The third was a little easy for Uganda who triumphed 25-17 before wrapping the games by the same score in the fourth to run out 3-1 winners in the end.

Uganda won the final two quarters to seal the game.

“This result was so critical, noted She Cranes Assistant coach Shira Omuriwe after the game.

“We thank God that the girls were fit and so they managed to step up. They knew what to do and I am grateful that we finally beat Rwanda.

“It was tough because they have bigger girls so we had to make sure that the outside blockers are stationary and tried to stop the big girls.

Uganda is now set to take on Kenya in the third game on Tuesday night but will have to be at their best if they are to topple the continental giants.

“Kenya has big girls, they have mature players who have played this game for a long time, continued Shilla Omuriwe hinted.

“We have told our girls not to have pressure, the win will be important but we just have to take a point at a time.

Kenya has also won two games – three straight sets victories against Rwanda (Sunday) and Ethiopia (Monday).

The winner of the qualifiers will book a ticket to the All Africa Games in Morocco later this year.
