MENGO – A whopping 44 goals were scored on Match-Day 24 of the Futsal Super League 2018/19 season.

Run away leaders scored six on the night as they defeated Yap Stars 6-2 in the day’s opening fixture.

Shaffic Avemah helped himself to a hat-trick, Andrew Kayaga scored two while Timothy Sempiira added one as Yeak’s registered their 19th victory of the season.

For Yap Stars, Saddiq Abubaker and Alfati Bogere were on the score-sheet for them.

The victory sees Yeak maintain their six point lead at the top of the log with just two games to play.

Yeak now require only a single point from their final two games to seal a first ever League title.

For Yap who suffered their 21st defeat of the season, they remain rooted at the foot of the table with just 9 points from their first 24 games.

On the same day, second placed Park kept their title hopes alive for at least another week as they took care of hapless Kabowa United 4-0.

It was not an easy ride for Park especially in the first half as they led by only a single Iddi Babu goal.

Babu (left) scored Park’s opening goal against Kabowa United on Thursday.

However, it was in the second that Park turned on the heat, scoring three more unanswered goals to seal all three points.

Shafick Mulangira *2 and Mark Kisenyi scored Park’s second half goals.

The three points earned see Park maintain second spot with 54 points, six behind leaders Yeak after 24 games.

Park will now have to pray that Yeak loses its last two games while they win by huge margins in theirs’ so as to steal the title from the noses of the Kabowa based side.

For Kabowa United, they are still second from bottom with only 12 points accumulated so far this campaign.

In the game involving defending champions Dream, their three match winning run was put to an end by Bajim (1-2).

After a goalless first half, an Ibrahim Kamya brace undid Dream who could only see John Kitanda score a consolation for them, in the end.

Dream who are the inaugural winners of the Futsal Super League and are into the final of the Cup, drop into 5th with their 41 points gathered so far.

For Bajim, they climb into 4th on the standings, one point ahead of Dream.

The the highest scoring fixtures of the day saw Parakeets defeat Equator 5-4 while Elephants came from 4-1 down to beat Nomad by the same scoreline (5-4).

Both games saw one hat-trick apiece as Parakeets’ Arafat Ssentongo and Elephants’s Hassan Swaleh both found the net on three occasions in their respective teams’ victories.

In the other two day’s fixtures, Crown were held to a 2-2 draw by Mengo City while Samuel Kabugo and Michael Kasozi each struck twice as Aidenal overcame Typhoon 4-3.

Yeak’s Shaffic Avemah still leads the scoring charts with 41 goals, five ahead of teammate Enock Ssebagala.

The Futsal Super League action returns with 7 games on Thursday next week.
