Stanbic Uganda Cup 2018/19
Kyetume FC 0 (4) – 0 (1) Wakiso Giants
Nakisunga Grounds, Mukono

MUKONO – For 17 competitive fixtures, Wakiso Giants had not lost a single game since their inception mid-last year.
However, as fate would have it, they were defeated for the first time on Sunday, losing 4-1 to fellow Big League side-Kyetume, on penalties in the Stanbic Uganda Cup quarter finals after a 0-0 draw in 90 minutes.
After ejecting Tooro United in the last round, Wakiso went into the game dreaming they can go all the way in their first season, but who does that anyway!
In the all Big-League encounter played at the Nakisunga Grounds in Mukono, both sides played out a goalless draw after regulation time and like it is in the cup, penalty shoot-outs were to decide their fate.
Having won their previous two encounter in the competition off a shoot-out, Ibrahim Kirya’s side were confident they could make it three times lucky but that was not the case.
Earlier, Kirya had sent on Mamsoor Mutumba in place of Yasin Mugabi but the former Express FC custodian could not live up to the billing as Kyetume scored all their spot kicks with Denis Lubowa, Ibrahim Kazindula, Vincent Kayizi and Sande all striking the back of the net.
Only Ivan Kiwewa converted for Wakiso but Clinton Kamugisha and James Kasibante failed miserably.
Victory sees Kyetume join Bright Stars who required a Brian Kayanja goal to overcome Nebbi Central 1-0 on Saturday, in the semi finals.
The remaining to quarter final games will be played on Monday and Tuesday.
Express host Bul FC on Monday while Proline take on last year’s finalist Vipers, at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo, the following day.
