KAMPALA – Like it has always been the case in the recent past, Betway sponsored Basketball side-Power sign several players in the off-season.

Again, last year’s losing finalist have sealed the signing of three more players to blooster their squad ahead of the 2019 season. The number may be half of the six they signed last time but the names are ones which rise eyebrows in the Basketball community.

The new faces that are coming in are; Libe Makala, Samuel Agutu and Syrus Kiviiri.

Makala who is predominantly a shooting guard, joins from JKL Dolphins, Kiviiri (Guard) from Pemba Warriors while Agutu (Small Forward) comes in from UCU Canons.

For a side that has not won a championship since Ben Komakech (now with City Oilers) and Isaac Afidra delivered in Game 7 of the 2011 finals, a finals appearance is not enough as they will be gunning for the championship this time round.

After winning the regular season to finish as the top seed, Power were swept in the best of 7 finals by City Oilers in last year’s final.

The 2019 National Basketball League season starts on Friday, April 12 with Power taking on City Oilers at the MTN Arena in Lugogo.
