KAMPALA – In 2017, Happy Rally Team of Richard ‘Happy’ Katehangwa and Steven Bunya received a sponsorship boost from Bunga Bet, a local sports betting firm.
Katehangwa who is driving in his second season in the National Rally Championship category, has so far put out an impressive performance with Bunga Bet on board.
He finished 13th in the season-opening Lato Milk Mbarara Rally in January, before posting a 16th place finish in Jinja.
It is on the background of such performances that Bunga Bet prides in him.
“For sure, a driver of his potential needs to be supported, said Prosper Tuhaise, Bunga Bet CEO.
“He is very ambitious and we believe that in future, he will be one of the best drivers.
“So, we shall keep supporting him.
Katehangwa’s journey in the sport started in the 1990s as fan.
“Charles Muhangi was my best driver, says Katehangwa.
“The more I supported him, the more I fell in love with motorsport, and I am not about to look back.
Like Tuhaise, Katehangwa sees this partnership as a big shot in the arm for future glorious days.
