With just a few weeks to the start of the 2018/2019 Uganda Premier League (UPL) season, various top flight clubs are continuing with their preparations.

Almost all clubs are still playing preseason games including last season’s top three-Vipers SC, KCCA FC and SC Villa.

On Wednesday, Police FC held league champions Vipers SC in a friendly played at Kisubi.

Ibrahim Kibumba scored for the Cops in the first half off a penalty while Tom Masiko salvaged pride for the Venoms in similar manner with just under a quarter of the game to play.

Abdallah Mubiru’s charges ended the game with one man less after goalkeeper Davis Mutebi was sent off at the start of the second half..

At the Wakisha Resource Center, Ambrose Kirya netted a hat trick as SC Villa won 3-1 away to FUFA Big League side, Wakiso Giants.

Abdul Karim Kasule scored the hosts consolation in a game watched by a mammoth crowd.

Elsewhere, young star-Allan Okello scored twice for the Kasasiro boys as they humbled Mbarara City 3-1.

Patrick Kaddu scored the other goal for Mike Mutebi’s Uganda Cup holders Jude Semuyaba grabbed the Ankole Lion’s consolation in the 79th minute.

Meanwhile all eyes were on Mbarara city’s most expensive asset, Paul Mucureezi who featured for the Kasasiro from 2015 and left at the back end of last season after negotiations over contract extension fell through.
