City Oilers continued their fine form in the FUBA National Basketball League with a 65-57 win over Our Saviour on Monday evening.
In the re-arranged fixture (was scheduled for Sunday but a black-out in Lugogo forced its postponement), City Oilers who came into the game on the back of a 65-57 victory over rivals BetWay Power, started slowly but regained control just before half time.
The first quarter saw several twists and turns as the lead changed hands five times until Our Saviour Powered their way onto a 19-14 quarter victory.
In the second, Oilers were ruthless, restricting their opponents to just six points as they won it 34-25 and ensured a nine point lead at half-time.
Oilers continued their dominant display into the third, winning it 20-13 and in the process increasing their lead to a game high 16 points.
Despite a late surge by Our Saviour in the fourth quarter that saw them win it 19-11, it was not enough to avoid a 6th successive loss.
Landry Ndikumana top scored for Oilers on the night with 12 points, adding seven (7) rebounds and one steal to his game.
Jimmy Enabu, James Okello and substitute Ivan Muhwezi also reached double figures in terms of points with 11 each.
Pirworth Wilberforce top scored on the night with 20 points although it was not enough to propel Our Saviour to victory. Brian Ssentongo with 14 was the other one to reach double digits in terms of points for the Nsambya based side, adding a game high 8 rebounds to his game.
City Oilers who seat second on the log have now won all of their last six game in the FUBA NBL and pile more pressure on leaders Power.
For Our Saviour, they remain third from bottom with a 6-8 record after 14 games.
Both sides will return to action on July 28th with the victors taking on Sharing Youth before Our Saviour plays UPDF Tomahawks, at YMCA.
