FUFA Super 8 to start early next month

FUFA Super 8 2018

1st – 25th August

The FUFA Super was first a myth amongst the football fraternity but it has turned in to reality after the football governing body confirmed it on Wednesday, 11th July.

The tournament will run for three weeks starting 1st to 25th of August, just under a month before the start of the 2018/19 Uganda Premier League season.

It will comprise of eight teams, six from the previous UPL season and two that gained promotion from the Big League.

The ones from the previous UPL season are those that finished in the top six while those from the big league are the ones that won their respective groups (Elgon and Rwenzori).

No registration fee is required to participate in this tournament.

In the unlikely event that any of the above teams is unable to participate, priority shall be given to the next ranked team in the 1st Division from the previous season.

Prize Money of the 2018 edition for the Super 8 has been set at UGX 30 million to be shared by all 8 clubs with the winning team taking UGX 10,000,000 (ten million) and Runner up UGX 5,000,000 (Five million).

Clubs are required to register for the tournament by Thursday 12th July 2018 and their squad by Friday 20th July 2018 with the FUFA Competitions Department.

The format of play is a single-tie knockout tournament. No registration fee is required.

The top six in the 2017/18 UPL Season.

1. Vipers SC

  1. KCCA FC
  2. SC Villa
  3. Onduparaka FC
  4. Kirinya JSS
  5. Bul FC

The top two in 2017/18 Big League:

  1. Ndejje University FC
  2. Nyamityobora FC
