National Volleyball league play-offs launched

VOLLEYBALL–The 2017 National Volleyball league play-offs have been officially launched at the D’Mellos restaurant in Nakasero, Kampala.

This year’s play-offs have been dubbed the “Aziz Damani National Volleyball league playoffs thanks to sponsorship to a tune of Shs50m from Aziz Damani.

Speaking at the event, Aziz Damani, a businessman, said this year’s sponsorship is only part of his long-term plan to support volleyball in the country.

“Volleyball is such an amazing sport which has not been well supported.Now that we are part of it, our goal is to see this sport gain the glory it deserves over a prolonged period of time,” he said.

Aziz Damani has been involved in several sports over the years including cricket and football.

The president of the Uganda Volleyball Federation, Hadijah Namanda, was full of praise for Aziz Damani.

“Aziz Damani’s support could not have come at a better time than now. We are extremely grateful and looking foward to growing this partnership,” she said.

The play-offs serve-off on Sunday November 12, 2017 when 32 teams from the three championship series which include Serie A, B and C, compete for this year’s honours.

The games who be played at two major venues, MTN Indoor Arena, Lugogo and Sport-S ground, Nsambya.

The teams that qualified for the playoffs in the different Series.

Serie A Men:

Sport-S, KAVC-A, Nemo Stars and UCU.

Serie A Ladies:

VVC, UCU, Sport-S and Nkumba.

Serie B Men:

Police, COBAP, JVC and MUST.

Serie C men:

St. Mark, Kampala University, Mulago and Destiny.
