KAMPALA — Leaders such as Hon. Peter Sematimba and Lord Mayoral hopeful; Innocent Kawooya, though more than two decades apart have set unparalleled trends in the music Industry and have Exemplified Exceptional and Effervescent leadership, Fairly and Faithfully to their Fans.
Hello CEOs Business Leaders and entrepreneurs.
Amazing feedback was got about A to D TENETS OF LEADERSHIP (PART ONE)-A STUDY OF OSAMA BIN LADEN.
Undeniably for many, Osama Bin Laden was a scoundrel. I will nonetheless, reiterate Martin Luther King Jr’s words that “ A genuine leader is not a searcher of consensus BUT a molder of consensus” . Henceforth, If it is leadership qualities we seek, leadership qualities we shall find wherever they have been exposed. I am for truth and good governance, no matter the harbinger!
In Trend setters insight #0027, we continue with E and F of our A TO Z TENETS OF LEADERSHIP (PART TWO) Our exemplars, this time are Hon. Peter Sssssssesematimba as his fans call him, as well as Mr. Digital; CEO HiPipo, Kampala Lord Mayoral Candidate, Innocent Kawooya.
E is for Exemplary, Empathetic, Effervescent, Exceptional and Enthusiastic. Great leaders should lead by example, must be compassionate, should be lively and exceptional in their dealings. Most importantly, effective leaders are Enthusiastic.
Enthusiasm is a powerful engine of success. If you have worked with Innocent Kawooya or Hon. Peter Sematimba’s then you’ll agree that enthusiasm is part of their work ethic. When doing anything, their might is their only limitation! They will put their souls to it and stamp it with their own personality.
Indeed going back to mentor-mentee relationships, working with these two gentlemen only confirms the fact that nothing great can ever be achieved without enthusiasm!
F is for Fair, Forgiving, Fastidious, Faithful, and Foresight: Fairness is unquestionably a necessary tenet of great leadership. By fair we mean decisions taken without biases, stereotypes or prejudice.
If wronged, a great leader must be quick to forgive. Leadership should be fastidious- in line with paying attention to detail. Conversely, faithfulness and foresightedness are critical tenets of modern leadership.
The ability to see into the future, anticipate crisis situations and where possible take necessary preventive action is one of the hallmarks of a true leader. Of course all must be embedded in the fervent desire to change society and its growing ills. Our exemplars this week though more than two decades apart created inexorable faithful fans, of which I am among ?, simply by being fair, faithful and foresighted.
The Holy Bible in the book of 1peter5-2-5(ESV):says “Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly,…….not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock…..”
And for Muslim believers….”Surely there was a good example for you in the Messenger of Allah, for all those who look forward to Allah and the Last Day and remember Allah much.” Surat Al Anzab: 33-21-27
With the above word of God/Allah, cognizant of the fact that leadership is both an art and a science that we may never conclusively discuss, please permit me to continue with G and H of our A to Z tenets of leadership, Part three, next week.
All in All, let’s be mindful of the only safe ship in the storm today, GOOD LEADERSHIP and may we remember that; “ Effective Leadership is in the actions NOT the position!”
