KAMPALA- Eng Andrew Kitaka has been appointed acting Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) in place of Jennifer Musisi who formally left the office on December 15.

Kitaka is the current KCCA director of engineering and technical services. Samuel Serunkuuma will remain acting KCCA deputy executive director.

The announcement was made by Kampala Minister Beti Kamya in a statement issued on Tuesday, December 18.

Kamya revealed that Kitaka’s appointment is meant to avoid any leadership vaccum and ensure continuity at the authority that is gripped by uncertainty.

It is not clear whether Kitaka will retain the job. On December 10, Daily Monitor reported that three people, including Kitaka, had been tipped to replace Musisi.

The other is Mr Henry Mayega, Uganda’s deputy ambassador to China; and, Mr Patrick Mukiibi, the commissioner for Tax Investigation at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).

The print newspaper reported that Beti Kamya would recommend two candidates and President Museveni will name one of them as Musisi’s successor.
