DAR ES SALAAM — Tanzania’s President John Magufuli on Thursday reappointed Kassim Majaliwa the east African nation’s prime minister.
President Magufuli submitted Majaliwa’s reappointment to Parliament sitting in the capital Dodoma for vetting and Members of Parliament (MP) approved the reappointment by 350 votes or 100 percent. Majaliwa, an MP for Ruangwa constituency on the ticket of the ruling party Chama Cha Mapinduzi, was first appointed prime minister in November 2015.
In his vote of thanks, Majaliwa thanked President Magufuli for reappointing him and promised to work harder in the next five years of his administration.
He also promised to work closely with MPs from both the ruling party and opposition toward transforming the development of Tanzania.
