MUKONO – Presidential candidate Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde has December 20 promised to resolve issues between Buganda Kingdom and central government upon being elected.
He made the remarks while addressing the people in Kalagi in Mukono district.
According to Tumukunde,it is wrong for Buganda to have conflicts as it ends up affecting all the other parts of the country giving an example of 2009 where Kabaka Mutebi was prohibited by the army from going to Bugerere and many people lost their lives and property lost in the process.
“I don’t want what happened to happen again. I therefore request you to trust and vote for me as I shall resolve Buganda and other parts of the country to live harmoniously,” he said.
Tumukunde asked people in Buganda to seek for change that shall lead them forward and not backward.
“Don’t just support any change. Support change that takes you somewhere,” said Tumukunde.
He further promised to introduce a certificate of ownership of stall owners in markets.
“I will build markets and have a school (day care) on top of them because I know you don’t have where to leave your children. So that leave you your homes without any worries,” he said.
He also promised to provide the youth with funds to start up their own businesses.
“You don’t need to be put in groups of 15 where everyone thinks differently to get funds for business start ups. How will that money be put to effective use,” he asked.
