KAMPALA – The Electoral Commission (EC) has refuted allegations that it terminated one of the candidates vying for Ruhaama county (Ntungamo) Member of Parliament seat Henry Nkwasibwe Zinkuratire.

The NRM candidate was rumoured to have been disqualified by the EC for lack of S6 required academic qualifications.

Paul Bukenya, the EC Spokesperson of the said that they have not yet decided on the case neither passed any ruling about the petition which was filed by his opponent Isaac Nuwagaba (FDC).

He also denied the letter which was trending on social media bearing a forged signature of Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi, the Chairman of the EC.

Bukenya said that they are still studying the case and a ruling will be delivered on notice to both parties.

Recently Mr Nuwagaba petitioned the EC challenging his rival Zinkuratire that he was nominated using fake academic documents also lacking A’level.

When asked for a comment, Zinkuratire said that he has clear academic documents of P7, S4 & S.6, and a degree, claiming that the opposition are just disorganising him.

The Ruhaama county parliamentary seat is currently contested for by four candidates including the embattled NRM flag bearer Henry Nkwasibwe Zinkuratire, Isaac Nuwagaba of Opposition Forum for Democratic Change, Gerald Mucurezi Karakore-Humble of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) and Guard Kamaradi-Habineza who is contesting as an Independent.
