PAKWACH – FDC presidential candidate Patrick Amuriat has suspended his campaign after a truck carrying his public address system overturned in Pakwach District, killing two of his supporters and leaving several others seriously injured.

“It is something that has hit us quite hard. For that matter, we have taken the decision to suspend the campaign,” Mr Amuriat said on Tuesday after visiting the scene of the accident.

The accident occurred at Kimor village, Panyamur Town Council in Pakwach district after a truck registration number UBB 856W overturned at a blackspot.

The FDC candidate was in Nebbi on Tuesday and was set to campaign in Pakwach on Tuesday afternoon before heading to Bunyoro region on Wednesday.

The injured were taken to Panyamur Health Centre and Angal Hospital in Nebbi.

While in Nebbi, Amuriat reminded the people that the liberation is in its final phases, and as fighters, “everyone should be ready to brace themselves for even worse things than what the pain that dictatorship has so far inflicted on the people.”
