KAMPALA – Media personalities Miles Rwamiti, Joyce Bagala, Joan Lule together with musician Hillary Kiyaga alias Dr. Hilderman were yesterday dully nominated to contest as Members of parliament in the coming 2021 elections.
Hilderman is set to oust Trade Minister Amelia Kyambadde and represent the people of Mawokota North constituency on the NUP ticket while Miles Rwamiti is contesting as MP for Hoima East on the FDC ticket.
Joyce Bagala on the other hand seeks to oust ICT Minister Judith Nabakooba as Woman MP of Mityana District and Joan Lule for Mpigi District Woman MP.
Legendary comedian Keneth Kimuli aka Pablo who officially joined active politics on an independent ticket seeking to represent the people of Bunyagabu County in the next Parliament come 2021 was also nominated on Thursday.
Fellow comedians like Patrick Muhangi, Richard Tuwangye among others have already promised to support the actor.
After nomination, all these contenders asked the electorate to give them their mandate for they are ready to take on the responsibilities ahead of them to see that the constituencies they represent are transformed for better.
As these were being nominated, legendary media personality Katongole Omutongole was busy cursing Bobi Wine for allegedly misleading him into joining People Power.
The struggling Radio and TV host blamed National Unity Platform Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu for misleading him to join People Power and failing to give him a ticket saying he (Bobi Wine) messed up his political career.
“Bobi Wine persuaded me to join the party but he failed to give me a party ticket. We thought he would openly welcome us but he ignored us,” he said.
Katongole is not the only celebrity that was denied the ticket by the National Unity Platform Election Committee. Renowned media personality Dj Jacob Omutuuze, singers Khalifa Aganaga and Jose Chameleone were also denied the party tickets.
