KAMPALA – National Unity Platform’s denying Joseph Mayanja alias Chameleone has seen several artists lately pledging to support their fellow singer even when he is not running under NUP, fresh on the list is Ykee Benda

Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) President and singer Ykee Benda has pledged to support Jose Chameleone for Kampala Mayor even if he is not educated as the NUP electoral committee claimed while refusing to give him the party ticket for the Kampala Mayoral race.

After Kwempe North legislator Ssebagala’s disclosure of walking out of the Kampala Mayor race despite being given the National Unity Platform party (NUP) ticket for the 2021 race, Jose Chameleone’s supporters and fellow musicians have gained momentum and promised to support him in all ways.

According to Ykee Benda, the educated and elite they have for long voted have not made any changes in Kampala and he believes it Jose Chameleone to steer change in Kampala.

“We have voted the educated and elite and still dint see results I am voting for Joseph Mayanja and he is going to win. Look at the roads in Kampala divisions,” Ykee Benda tweeted.

The Mpaka Records boss further warned all those who think they can change him by using Chameleone’s past to derail his political ambitions to back off and stop dreaming. He said Kampala needs Chameleone to change it.

“We need change for Kampala. And don’t talk to me about his past’ Ykee added.

Ykee’s remarks come days after fellow singer and Bad Character C.E.O Khalifah Aganaga came out to speak the same, bearing the same sentiments about the singer-cum-politician.

The singer also revealed that he will continue supporting Chameleone to achieve his political goals despite being denied the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket to the Kampala Mayoral Race.

“It will be unfair to support the incumbent, we want change and we shall have the change when we change the old leaders by voting them out of those offices. What else are they going to bring on table after a period of 10 years in office,” he said.

Aganaga added that Mayanja is the change since he is the man that has supported his career in many ways.

“He made me look special when he gave me a collabo. Other musicians at that time were pushing me away including those you know,” he posted.

News of Latif Ssebagala stepping down as the National Unity Platform party (NUP) flag-bearer for the 2021 Kampala Lord Mayoral race evoked fresh hope amongst Jose Chameleone’s supporters, however the party officials said they have to go through the entire process again to select another flag bearer.
