KOBOKO – Investments Minister Evelyn Anite has conceded defeat to Dr. Charles Ayume in the acrimonious battle for flagbearer of the ruling NRM party for Koboko Municipality.

Speaking to media on Friday afternoon, Ms Anite, a controversial figure in the West Nile elections said even though there were malpractices, she would accept the outcome.

“The election has been full of chaos. My agents have been beaten up, they have ferried people to come and disorganize us,” she said.

Dr. Ayume garnered 8,089 while Ms Anite got 7,321.

Asked if she will petition the party over the irregularities, Ms Anite said she would accept the loss because politics isn’t “a matter of life and death”.

Ms Anite says she will not contest as independent candidate.
”For what? I will not,” she said.
