KAMPALA – 2021 Kampala Lord Mayor hopeful Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has reaffirmed his pursuit for the Kampala Lord Mayoral slot after he cautioned Bobi Wine on how he should be careful with who he considers for the NUP ticket in the race.
The music doctor advised the NUP principal Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu to handle the people close to him with much integrity.
In an interview with a local TV station, Leone Island Music Empire boss discloses that he can’t let a grown-up man whom he voted while he was still young make him be sidelined from a position he has been planning to contest for the last two years.
He further vowed that no one will let him lose or divert his focus from contesting for the top seat in Kampala City.
The ‘Baliwa’ hit maker intensified his quest when he vowed that he will not back down after being vetted with veteran politician Latif Ssebagala on who should be the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer for the Kampala Lord Mayorship race come 2021.
Sebaggala Ssengendo and Joseph Mayanja were vetted on Tuesday this week by the vetting committee of the National Unity Platform-NUP party to establish how knowledgeable they are about the positions they are vying for, what they intend to do for the Kampala electorate and their leadership skills among others.
While at it, Sebaggala, who believes is the right candidate for the position given his loyalty to the party and leadership experience promised to work hard for the betterment of Kampala.
Mayanja aka Chameleone on the other hand pledged to ensure proper planning for the Kampala slum areas.
“We can improve the ways of living of people in ghetto settings by bringing most of the affordable services close to them like health facilities, ensuring proper drainage among others,” he said.
Both candidates are vying to displace incumbent Erias Lukwago who a month ago crossed from Democratic Party to Forum for Democratic Change party and vowed to defend his Seat.
Whoever is endorsed by NUP next week will face off with NRM’s Daniel Kazibwe alias Ragga Dee and incumbent city Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago who is on the FDC ticket.
