KAMPALA – Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has on Wednesday, August 19, 2020 congratulated the party youth, persons with disabilities and elderly persons upon their victory in the just concluded elections that took place on August 17, 13 and 11, 2020.

During a press conference at the party headquarters, Uganda House in Kampala, the party spokesperson Sharon Arach Oyat congratulated the candidates for standing firm and carrying the party flag high across the country.

“The party also congratulates it’s candidates who did not go through, for standing firm and carrying the party flag high across the country, we also ask you to support those that carry the flag,” Arach said.

As the party awaits the final declaration of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) election results by Electoral Commission, provisional resultsindicate that UPC is doing well in areas where it fielded candidates.

“For elections of Persons with Disabilities and Olders Persons, most of the party candidates went through unopposed and this is a great indicator that the party is everywhere, and for us,” added the spokesperson.

UPC further encourages its successful candidates in the concluded village SIGs elections to prepare and take part in the upcoming Parish level elections that start with nomination of committee candidates from August 20- August 25, followed by campaigns from August 26- August 27 and finally elections on August 28 for Older Persons and August 31 for Persons with Disabilities.

With the polling day of Parish Youth Committed scheduled for September 2, 2020, all party candidates at this level are called upon to work hand in hand with leaders, members and supporters at their respective brach structures for easy coordination and mobilization of voters.

Having said all this, the spokesperson went ahead to also congratulate all party flag bearers for Local Council 3 Chairpersons and sub county Councilors for successfully being elected in the concluded primaries.

“We now encourage them to work as a team in order to achieve our sole goal of sweeping most of the elective positions where the party will field candidates,” she added to say.

She encouraged party members who did not go through to rally their support to successful party flag bearers.
