KAMPALA – Lately, the wave of artists and celebrities joining politics is hitting hard and leaving many wondering where the creative industry will be left after the 2021 polls.

The latest on the list of creatives joining politics is Ms Anne Mungoma famed for organizing a curvy women pageant.

Mungoma, who hit the spotlight last year after organizing the highly contested Miss Curvy pageant has joined the road to politics by eyeing a parliamentary seat in the 11th parliament.

Mungoma who was nominated on Wednesday at the NRM secretariat to contest for the Manafwa Woman MP seat will be tussling out with the incumbent Mary Goretti Kitutu, who is also the minister of energy.

In addition to being CEO of Miss Curvy Pageant, Mungoma also runs a security firm in Kampala. She is also the president of the Shooting Range Association in Uganda and a motor rally driver.

Early last year, Last week, Tourism State minister Godfrey Kiwanda launched the controversial Miss Curvy beauty pageant amidst strong criticism from the public which divided opinions about the pageant.

Defending the pageant, Mungoma said that contrary to the public perception that the pageant was meant to promote promiscuity, they were introducing the pageant to celebrate the plus size woman whom the world thinks is not beautiful since all beauty pageants look out for lean girls to catwalk.
