The sparks in Kyadondo East by-election race begins to fly in earnest as political heavyweights (no pun intended) begin to arrive in constituency to drum up support for their party flag bearers.
First to dust the streets were NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba and the Party National Treasurer Rose Namayanja. The two are expected to start laying the ground for the by-elections scheduled for June 26.
At the time of writing this the two party officials were addressing party leaders gathered from villages to district levels at Green Life Resort in Kasangati Town Council.
Sitenda Sebalu, who successfully petitioned the election of FDC’s Apollo Katinti over noncompliance with electoral laws, will be happy to receive the graces and influence of the NRM party leaders.
The race has also drawn in singer Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, who is hoping to successfully transform from music recording industry to politics with victory on June 26. Bobi Wine is an FDC-leaning independent.
