KAMPALA — Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has reported a slight improvement in last year’s Primary Leaving Examination (PLE 2020) but noted a drop in Mathematics.

Mr Dan Odongo, the UNEB executive secretary, said the overall performance improved slightly and that, the females performed better than the males in English, but the reverse is true for the other three subjects; Social Studies & Religious Education, Integrated Science, and Mathematics.

“As we have reported in previous years, candidates’ performance in English and Mathematics tended to be poorer in questions requiring free expression or application of learned concepts in problem solving situations,” he said, noting that candidates performed better in questions that were direct and based on recall.

He also said examiners again reported good handwriting and organized work presented by candidates.

The number of candidates scoring zero in various subjects has generally increased compared to previous year.

How to send the message to know your PLE results

To access the service, he said a user should simply send an SMS from a mobile phone to code number 6600 on Airtel Uganda or MTN Uganda.

To construct a valid SMS, users should enter a prescribed keyword followed by their index number and send the SMS to 6600.

You can get the 2019 PLE Results for any candidate in a few simple steps.

In your message box, type PLE <space> INDEX NUMBER and send it to 6600.

For example, to check the results of the candidate with index number 654321/001, in your message box, type PLE 654321/001 AND SEND TO 6600.

You will receive an SMS at a cost of UGX 500 per candidate
