MAKINDYE — Airtel Uganda has joined students of St. Ponsiano Kyamula Primary School to celebrate the excellence in the 2020 Primary Leaving Exams (PLE) that were released Friday July 16 2021 at at State House in Entebbe.

St. Ponsiano Kyamula Primary School is one of the schools that Airtel Uganda adopted in 2012 under the Airtel Uganda adopted schools inititavie. At the time, the school barely produced a single student in first grade.

“We appreciate the support that Airtel Uganda has extended to us over the years. It has been, and continues to be instrumental in the development of the School in terms of the infrastructure, not forgetting the recognition of our top performing students,” Ms. Amolo Hellen Head teacher at St. Ponsiano Kyamula Primary School, said.

Airtel Uganda has in the past years recognized best performing students at the four beneficiary schools with scholastic materials including; beddings and stationery.
“The recognition of the top performing students has always inspired those in the lower classes to strive and attain what their peers have. Accordingly, we always value the support,” Ms Amolo added.

Commending the top performers, Charity Bukenya Rwabutomize, the Corporate Social Responsibility Manager at Airtel Uganda congratulated the students of St. Ponsiano Kyamula Primary School and those Countrywide who excelled in the just concluded PLE exams.

She said that producing 9 first graders at St Ponsiano means a lot to Airtel Uganda.

“At the inception of this program, our dream was improve the academic performance of this school through the provision of the much needed infrastructure.

“At the time, the levels of concentration were low because the uptake and appetite for school was still low. Hence, we needed an incentive for the children in this area through renovating the school and now the area and school are reaping from improved grades,” Ms. Rwabutomize concluded.

Adopt A School Program rollout has been possible due to collaborative efforts between Airtel Uganda and the Ministry of Education and Sports, which is in support of Government of Uganda’s deliberate move to reach out to schools in the marginalized communities.

Nagenda Musasizi Mark , Ayinza Jesse Kenneth , Nalika Antonia, who attained 8, 9, 10, points respectively are among the students from St. Ponsiano Kyamula Primary School who will be getting items under the Airtel Adopt a School Program.

Other Schools under the program include; Sseke Primary School in Lwengo District, – Nanfugaki Primary School in Iganga and – Ndeeba Church of Uganda Primary School in Kayunga.
