MBARARA – The Mbarara University School of Science and Technology (MUST) Academic registrar Martha Kyoshaba has revealed that the faculty of medicine final year students will resume their second semester on Monday, September 28,2020.

This is after government approved their return to school with P7, S4,S6 candidates and finalists in learning institutions.

“This is to inform you that you are required to resume semester II,2019/2020 on Monday, September 28,2020,” she said in a letter dated September 21.

“On the same date, you will be expected to attend a mandatory training in the Faculty of Medicine on Standard Operating procedures and infection prevention and control for COVID-19,”she added.

Ms Kyoshaba said the students are required to have at least two 2-layer washable face masks, sanitizers, clinical/laboratory coats and light blue scrubs for Medicine students.

“More information will be given to you at the training on September 28,2020,” she noted

President Museveni on Sunday confirmed that cabinet approved the re-opening of schools for candidates and finalists on October 15, 2020.

“We have decided to re-open schools for the candidates including P7, S4, S6 and finalists in universities and tertiary universities. We believe that the number of these is small,” he said while addressing the nation on the COVID-19 status in the country.

According to Mr. Museveni, they are opening the schools because the cost of waiting will be too high.

“If the batch of 2020 do not move on, what will happen to the batch of 2021? A solution for the non-finalists shall be got in January 2021,” he noted
