KAABONG – The Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) has launched an operation to hunt for the two Karimojong Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel who have escaped from the barracks with fully loaded guns.

The escape of the personnel has created panic among the community in Kaabong given the current resurrecting cattle rustling in Karamoja region.

Major Peter Mugisa, the UPDF 3rd division Spokesperson confirmed the escape of the LDU personnel saying the two were attached to Kaabong LDU detach.

He said the LDU escaped on the night of Tuesday under unclear reason and appealed the general public whoever sees them to report them to the army.

“They have gone with fully loaded rifles and we are hunting for them serious,” he said.
