KAMPALA – Following a video clip circulating on social media involving men in uniform brutally beating some people, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has started investigations into the matter.

According to CID Spokesperson Charles Twiine, management has instructed detectives from the Cyber Investigations Unit to critically study and review the video for purpose of establishing its authenticity.

“If it is established that the video is genuine, and that the brutality was done by our officers, inevitably investigations shall commence with the view of establishing the perpetrators for possible prosecution,” he said in a statement, adding that “for it is not only barbaric, but also criminal.”

He further appealed to the general public especially individuals that could be having any information regarding where the act took place.

“You may inform us at CID quarters, or to the near by Police Station to enable us expedite the investigations,” said Twiine.
