Hacked to death! One killed as another is severely injured in brutal attack

Police in Kabale District are investigating circumstances under which a 38-year-old man killed a person (PHOTO/File))

KABALE – Police in Kabale district is holding a 38-year-old man for allegedly killing one person and seriously injuring another.

The deceased has been identified as a 39-year-old Lawrence Kahigi while the injured has only been identified as Pamela, both are residents of Ntaraga in Ikumba Sub County in Rubanda district.

The duo was attacked on Sunday morning of September 15, 2019, at around 3:30 am at the home of Edivena Tumusiime which is located in Nyakakiika Cell, Karubanda Ward in Southern division Kabale Municipality where they had gone to visit.

The two were attacked by Everisto Atuyambe, a resident of Ntaraga in Ikumba Sub County in Rubanda district who was armed with a panga and stick.

The Kabale District Police Commander Brian Ampeire confirmed the incident saying that Kahigi was cut into pieces and died on the spot while Pamela was rushed to Kabale Regional Referral hospital in a critical condition.

Mr. Ampeire says that Atuyambe is currently detained at Kabale Central Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.

“We have one person in detention to help us investigate the murder case that occurred this morning in Kabale Municipality. We have already initiated an investigation and the suspect will be charged accordingly when the investigations are complete,” Mr. Ampeire noted.

Mr. Ampeire challenged the public to be vigilant and report acts of lawlessness adding that the law will take course against such unacceptable behavior in the society.
