MBALE – Police in Mbale District have arrested a 30-year-old man for reportedly killing his wife over denial of conjugal rights.
Mr Rogers Wamoto, a resident of Namikyelo village, Bungwanyi parish in Bukiende Sub County, Mbale District, is said to have killed his wife Doreen Nabifo before cutting off her private parts over the weekend. The couple has five children together.
It is alleged that Wamito, assisted by others, killed the deceased in the night before dumping her body a few meters away from her house.
The Elgon Region Police Spokesperson, Mr Robert Tukei confirmed the incident and condemned the act.
Police said a team of detectives from the Homicide department section who rushed at the scene of the crime for investigation found the body of the deceased naked.
Meanwhile, police in Kassanda District are investigating circumstances under which 15 girls were locked up in a house for three days without food.
According to Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson, Mr Norbert Ochom, the affected girls were rescued on Friday from Bukuya Public Pub owned by Benjamin Ekobie.
The victims were reportedly locked up them inside one of the rooms in the pub for three days as a punishment for stealing his Shs300.
“With the help of the local leaders we mounted a search at the entire pub and discovered the girls locked up inside one of the dirty rooms at the pub.” He said, adding “We are keeping the girls at Bukuya police while we carry out further investigations into this matter.”
Hajj Tanula Suleiman Tanula, the chairperson of Bukuya sub-county, said the affected girls were picked up from several districts that include Kasese, Bundibugyo, Jinja and brought to the area to work as waitresses at the pub.
