Man arrested for killing employer over delayed pay

Amos Muhwezi, 21, hacked Fred Mugarura, 50, on the head, arms and chest on Wednesday for unpaid wages

KASHARI: Police in Kashari District have arrested a man for allegedly hacking his employer to death over non-payment of wages.

According to police, Amos Muhwezi, 21, hacked Fred Mugarura, 50, on the head, arms and chest on Wednesday in Muko cell Rushozi parish, Rubaya sub-county Kashari. He was rushed to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital where he died after admission.

Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson Samson Kasasira said Mugarura allegedly refused to pay his money, Shs 250,000, which he had wanted to use to travel to his home district of Rubanda for burial. Muhwezi was arrested by the residents and handed to police.

A Police report shows that between 2010 and 2017, there has been an increase in cases of domestic violence, women trafficking, defilement, rape, child kidnap, child trafficking, child torture, incest, and child desertion among others.
