In a bid to promote menstrual health and hygiene, the Head of Programs at RAHU, Benson Muhindo, engaged with attendees at an event held in Budondo, Namizi ward. The event aimed to raise awareness, dispel harmful myths, and provide sustainable solutions to menstrual hygiene.
Namukobe Jane, the councillor of Namizi ward, and Madam Irene, the women’s leader (Nnabakyala), also graced the occasion, sharing remarks that resonated with the organization’s commitment to end period poverty.
SafePad Uganda, a key partner, distributed reusable pads to numerous girls, providing a sustainable solution to menstrual hygiene. The event culminated in a sports session where the girls played netball and dodgeball, making it a resounding success.
RAHU’s initiative aligns with its mission to encourage young people to innovate and tackle issues that affect them. By addressing menstrual health stigmas, the organization hopes to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for girls and women.
The event’s impact will be felt beyond the day’s activities, as it sparks a conversation that needs to be had. RAHU’s dedication to empowering girls and tackling period poverty is a step in the right direction towards a more equitable future.
