WAKISO— Police are searching for Mr. Yahaya Katongole, the operator and owner of HSD Medical Clinic in Sseguku over illegal assemblies and other treasonable activities.
Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga in a statement said Katongole, 35, who had his medical clinic along Entebbe Highway shutdown last week is being sought for over holding illegal political assemblies and other undisclosed subversive activities.
“After the police conducted an investigation in regard to the charges mentioned above, our officers attempted to apprehend him and made a raid at his residence which took place on Wednesday early morning of 23rd February 2022. Unfortunately, he narrowly escaped but during this same operation, an oldman who was later identified as his grandfather whom they lived together was shot dead in the process as he tried to obstruct the security operatives from carrying out their duties,” Mr Enanga said.
Enanga added: “Though it’s possible for the fugitive to be hiding in any other locations in Uganda, it’s likely that he could be hiding in the greater Kampala metropolitan area, including the districts of Kampala, Wakiso, Mukono, Mpigi, Buikwe and Luwero or the immediate districts”.
Police said all his closest family members denied knowledge of Katongole’s whereabouts.
“The police are therefore appealing to anyone who might know about Mr. Katongole Yahaya’s disappearance to contact the nearby police immediately or call our toll-free number 999/112.”
Police also warned of grave consequences to anyone helping him to evade arrest.
“Please do the right thing and hand him over to the authorities before it’s late for you. Whoever has valuable information in connection to this case may pass it in confidence to the nearest police station”.
