KAMPALA —Charles Birungi Ntagali, son of former Church of Uganda Archbishop Stanley Ntagali has died.

Retired Archbishop Ntagali said his son Birungi (31) died shortly after midnight after a short illness.

“It is with Sadness that Mama Beatrice and I inform you about the sudden death of our last born Charles Birungi 31 which occurred soon after midnight tonight,” the Retired Archbishop Ntagali wrote.

He could not reveal details of the cause of death saying more details would be communicated.

Birungi was one of the five children of the Archbishop Emeritus.

“Sad to hear about the untimely death of my friend, OB, and village mate; Charles Birungi Ntagali, son to retired Archbishop Ntagali, who collapsed at midnight on his way to hospital,” said Robert Tumusiime, a friend of the deceased.

“Commiseration to The Most Rev. Stanley Ntagali Akiiki and family for the loss of your last born.”

Former Archbishop Ntagali said burial arrangements would be communicated later.

Ntagali in December 2016 lost another son, Peter Ahimbisibwe Ntagali, who also died after a short illness.
