The KCCA comprises 54 members, one councillor – James Mubiru didn’t participate because he was imprisoned on charges for alleged illegal possession of attires that are a preserve of the armed forces while Lord Mayor – Erias Lukwago abstained from the exercise.

On the same day, Nasur Masaba – NUP won the post of KCCA Deputy Speaker after beating NRM’s Allan Mwesigwa. Forty-two councillors voted in favour of Masaba while nine picked Mwesigwa.
