KAMPALA – It has reached our desk that the government has started on investigations on how former Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi – Bobi Wine’s bullet proof car was procured, transported and cleared by tax authorities.

This comes shortly after pop star turned politician announced his new armored ride over the weekend which he says was procured by his supporters.

“There is group of comrades who kick-started a fundraising campaign for a bullet proof vehicle. These comrades informed me of their plan, but I thought it was an uphill task, given how expensive it is. A few weeks ago, these comrades surprised me when they informed me that they had succeeded in raising enough money for the vehicle, and here it is. I can’t THANK YOU enough,” Bobi Wine said in a Facebook post on Sunday.

Now security sources reaching to us revealed that they have been ordered to follow the “trail” of the car.

The trail will include following up on the firm through which it was imported, the customs officers and the car, the clearing and forwarding firm that handled the car.

The investigation, according to the anonymous source is likely get some officials in Uganda Revenue Authority sucked.

According to the source, such cars would have to be cleared “specially” under security circumstances.

“There are many business people who won armoured cars but they have to first be cleared by security,” the source said.

The presidential candidate who became runner up in the just concluded general election has on Monday withdrawn his petition from supreme court citing unfairness by the Chief Justice Alphonse Owiny-Dollo.
