KAMPALA – VJ Junior real name Mary Smarts Matovu has conceded defeat having lost lord councillor-ship race to National Unity Platform’s (NUP) candidate Faisal Ssebayigga Kibirige in a tight race.

The popular Video Jockey was contesting in Mutungo that covers Kitintale and mutungo.

In his message, the self-proclaimed ‘The Incredible’ extended his gratitude to the family, friends, and his loyal supporters from Mutungo Parish in Nakawa division and all other areas who generously contributed their time and effort to his campaign.

“Being an effective leader involves listening to constituents, translating their concerns into workable proposals, and building consensus to implement them which I’m sure I can still do for you my people even without any political title,” he said.

“You have taken the time to share with me your ideas, your concerns, and your aspirations, and I sincerely appreciate your willingness to discuss what really matters to you.”

He also lauded Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, saying that “Bobi, you are an ambassador of hope, change and revolution that’s for sure and you have proved it to us during this election period hence inspiring so many other Ugandans to engross and take part in this whole revolutionary process,” he said.

In the just concluded lord councillor election, Bobi Wine’s NUP managed to wipe out the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kampala after winning 41 out of the 44 seats to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA).

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) only managed three seats including Kampala Deputy Mayor Doreen Nyanjura who represents Makerere University and Micdad Muganga Makerere University Lord Councillor and Namazzi Olive who won in Nakawa A.

This means, NRM and Democratic Party DP will have no single representative at city hall.

NUP clinched 11 positions in Makindye, Nine in Nakawa, 10 in Lubaga three in Kampala central and Eight in Kawempe Division.
