OTUKE – The family of the late and former LCV chairman of Otuke district Benson Ogwang Ogoo has dismissed reports that the United States Embassy in Uganda will take over all the burial of thier father.
The media had earlier reported that Otuke district RDC Robert Abak said that they held a meeting with the family members of the deceased who confirmed that the US embassy has contacted them and indicated they would take over the burial arrangements.
“However, a burial date has not been set because his wife and other members of the family who stay in the US have to jet back into the country to give him a befitting send off.”
The late Ogoo was a dual citizen of of Uganda and the United States where he lived a larger part of his life before returning to contest in Otuke which he led as district chairman from 2011- 2016.
In 2016, he contested and lost to Bosco Odongo Obote of the NRM.
Before his demise, he was already duly nominated as a candidate for LCV chairman of Otuke on an independent ticket. This means that the electoral commission will have to conduct fresh nominations.
Ogoo passed on Tuesday morning from Mulago Hospital where he was admitted on Monday last week.
